AD50 - 2017: Architecture BRIO, Mumbai
Shefali Balwani, Robert Verrijt
Philosophy
“[We create] beautiful environments that are current and locally sensitive,” says Verrijt.
Project in Focus
A
tree house on a 180-acre hilltop property— the structure has a large thatched roof conceived as an “oversized sun umbrella”. A curved timber frame wraps around to take in the dense forest views. “It redefines conventions—like what a bedroom is, or how you bathe in the forest,” says Verrijt.
Words of Wisdom
“Each project is an unwinding story inwhich a series of spaces unfold, evoking different responses through light and darkness, textures and rhythm,” says Balwani.
