Nestled in the lush heart of Central Goa, the IB-school EKYA occupies a picturesque two-acre site opening out to breathtaking views of paddy fields. The design for EKYA seeks to embody the school’s guiding principles—community, collaboration, individuality, and unity—transforming them into spatial experiences that inspire learning and connection.
Breaking away from conventional school design instead of arranged along a single corridor, EKYA’s classrooms are arranged around multiple mini courtyards. It allows for views in all directions and enabling incorporating trees into the heart of the complex. This innovative layout for multistory school buildings encourages cross-ventilation and abundant natural light, cultivating a vibrant, sustainable learning environment. Staggered building heights add dynamic volumes to the interiors, creating engaging spaces that soften the campus’s impact on its semi-urban, rural surroundings.
The campus is thoughtfully divided into two blocks—one for classrooms and the other for administrative and activity zones—connected by an elevated 100m sprint track. At ground level, a series of elegant arches unite these blocks, fostering accessibility and smooth transitions as students and staff move throughout. Drawing inspiration from the local context, the design incorporates a series of arched enfilades nodding to the nearby majestic Basilica of Bom Jesus in Old Goa creating a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity that reflects the campus’s distinct setting.

Micro-courtyards create intimate spaces between classrooms, where students can gather, interact, and unwind—fostering a strong sense of community throughout the campus.
A 100-meter running track stretches across the campus, playfully linking the resource center via the academic wing to the outdoor play fields, merging learning spaces with areas for active play.
Students access the auditorium directly from the colonnaded running track, while community members are welcomed through a dedicated entry from the main road, creating a seamless connection between school life and the wider neighborhood.
