Pavilion for India Design ID Exhbition

February 15, 2015

"These are fertile times, everything is just right for entrepreneurship to flourish and businesses big and small are mushrooming everywhere".

Architecture BRIO designed a pavilion for ColourNext 2015 at the India Design ID exhibition in Delhi. Around the theme of "startup" the firm designed a cabin like structure for an imaginary home chef.

The pavilion is an imagined world of an entrepreneur, always at work even at home. A pastry chef runs a small catering business. The kitchen is the place she works, creates and spends most time.
While colour plays an important role in her work and her environment to offset colour with a balanced neutrality is of equal importance.
Materials in the pavilion are balanced with a natural material such as wood in combination with bold statement colours to create a harmony and balance to the space.
The structure is made of portals of birch ply interconnected with each other. The outershell exposees the natural grain of the wood surface while the inner displays the character of the structure interspersed with colour. The raw edge dining table, stools and bench form the centre piece of the room set. A tree cutting through the roof space exaggerates the element of natural within a boldly coloured realm.
