Born in Mumbai, India, Shefali Balwani studied at the renowned School of Architecture C.E.P.T in Ahmedabad. After completing her thesis on the Architecture of contemporary mosques she moved back to Mumbai to work with Rahul Mehrotra. In 2004 she joined the office of Channa Daswatte in Sri Lanka where she was responsible for a variety of projects such as the part refurbishment of Geoffrey Bawa's Lighthouse Hotel.
Born in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, Robert Verrijt's passion is traveling. Much of his summer holidays were spent exploring Mediterranean villages and cities. After being awarded 2nd place at the Dutch Archiprix for his masters thesis in Architecture at the TUDelft he moved to Sri Lanka where he joined the office of Channa Daswatte, one of Geoffrey Bawa's protégés. His work here included renovations, houses, high end condominiums, boutique resorts and hotels. In Mumbai he has taught part time at the KRVIA school of Architecture, and the Balwant Sheth School of Architecture.
Born in Mumbai, Khushboo finished her Bachelors in Architecture from Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture and Environmental Studies (KRVIA), Mumbai. She completed her thesis which focused on the Diaspora Sindhi community in the city of Mumbai. She completed her internship at SJK Architects, where she was involved in design projects of varied scales. She has joined Architecture Brio with a keen interest to learn contextual based design and experiment with material and details.
Born and brought up in Bangalore, Priyanka graduated from BMS College of Engineering. After completing her final year thesis titled 'Centre for Marine Conservation and Rehabilitation' that deals with the challenges of building in a sensitive habitat, she moved to Sri Lanka to intern with Amila De Mel and continued to work for 2 years thereafter. She had the opportunity to work on commercial, residential, landscape and community development projects and enjoyed designing in the tropical context. On her return, she joined Architecture BRIO to further develop her interest for detailing and hopes to explore unconventional materials, building methods and design.
Mohammed Inthizar graduated from MSAJAA, Chennai. He completed his academic internship with architect Deepak Guggari, Pune and has worked in several interior and landscape projects. He completed his undergraduate dissertation on Geoffrey Bawa's works and translated the same in his thesis on a resort. Mohammed has a keen interest in regional modernism. He joined architecture BRIO to explore innovative construction details and work in local context. He likes to travel, sketch and cook in his leisure time.
Born and brought up in Pune, Aishwarya completed her Bachelor of Architecture from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur. During her internship at M/s Prabhakar Bhagwat in Ahmedabad, she worked on various architecture and landscape projects and was majorly involved in the designing of a public park in Mumbai. She also had the opportunity to research and work on a travelling exhibition called "Indian Landscape Design: Tracing Narratives", the first of its kind, that speaks about the story of landscape architecture in India. She completed her thesis on "Expression in Mughal Architecture" that focused on developing a new vocabulary for Mughal architecture with a relevant typology within Agra's context. She joined Architecture BRIO to have a hands on experience on a variety of projects that would sharpen her understanding of context based design, detailing and sustainable building materials.
Born and brought up in Chennai, Neethi did her Bachelors from Measi Academy of Architecture, where she completed a dual degree course in Architecture and Interior Design. As part of her course, she interned for a year at Kamat and Rozario Architecture in Bangalore, where she had the opportunity to work on both architecture and interior projects of varied scales - right from product design to multiple residential and commercial projects. She has travelled extensively and this passion for travel and creating memorable experiences inspired her to design her thesis project around an exclusive chocolate experience in Ooty. Soon after graduating, she moved to Mumbai to work at Architecture BRIO to increase her exposure and knowledge on building with natural materials, fine detailing and sustainable design.
Born and brought up in Mumbai, Harsh finished his Bachelors in Architecture from Sir JJ College of Architecture, Mumbai. He completed his thesis and research on community housing for Kumbharwada in Dharavi, After graduation he Interned with Studio Mumbai Architects and continued to work for a year. He had the opportunity to work on commercial, residential and modeling prototyping where he enjoyed on hand site experience. He is inspired by traditional style of architecture and wishes to perpetuate this art-from through his work. He joined Architecture BRIO with a keen interest to learn and explore the varied use of materials in a context based design.
Born in Aurangabad, Madhura did her MA in Architectural Regeneration from Oxford Brookes University, UK where she researched on "adaptive reuse of medieval irrigation systems in contemporary urban development". She worked with Abha Narain Lambah Associates, Adarkar Associates in Mumbai and Aidan Lynch, Oxford, UK where she worked on conservation, heritage listing and adaptive reuse of urban scale projects.She has a keen interest in traditional art and craft. Madhura is the architectural design associate for BillionBricks, a non profit organization working in association with architecture BRIO for homeless people.
Born in Delhi, Aarti graduated from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. Her undergraduate thesis explored the spatial dimensions of juvenile delinquency to design a sensitive and benevolent environment for children. Later, she worked for more than a year with architect MN Ashish Ganju on the New School of Learning at the Dolma Ling Nunnery in Dharamsala, a project which explores sustainable building practices in the foothills of the Himalayas. She also worked at Greha on urban renewal projects and issues like urban sanitation in the informal settlements of Delhi. Her fascination for building in the mountains is what brought her to Architecture BRIO. She is currently living and working in a small village in the Kumaon region of the Himalayas at the building site of an upcoming project
Dipon graduated from the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra Ranchi. He did his undergraduate thesis on the design of a crematorium cum memorial complex in Kolkata for which he was awarded the "Student of the Year award for 2016" by the Council of Architecture, India. He did his academic training under architect Rafiq Azam in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He worked earlier with Didi Contractor in Himachal exploring earth and bamboo construction. Dipon loves travelling, exploring various communities and their practices. He has led a community driven pro bono project for post earthquake reconstruction of a school in Nepal and has a keen interest in sustainable and contextual architecture practices. He joined architecture BRIO to get his hand on varied projects and exploring with different materials and construction techniques
Born in Mumbai, Rinika graduated from Balwant Sheth School of Architecture. Her undergratuate thesis was on landscape urbanism understanding how urban growth in economic driven cities face a condition of divide creating isolated multi-nodal metropolis. She further did her internship with Junya Ishigami + Associates, Tokyo, Japan and Atto Atelier, Bangalore. She was a part of interior projects and facade design assignments during her previous work experience. Rinika loves exloring design through models and has a keen interest in photography. She joined architecture BRIO to help herself develop a deeper sensibility towards design and details in a given context
Shreya was born and brought up in Bangalore and acquired her B.Arch degree from RVCE, Bangalore. Soon after graduating, she chose to work in Auroville under architects David Nightingale and Ganesh Bala where she developed a passion for sustainable design. She then went on to do a masters in Sustainable Environmental Design from the Architectural Association, London to further her learning on the subject. Her thesis was focused on "passive cooling for the office typology in an urban context", an issue which she strongly felt needed to be addressed in her home town. She joined Architecture BRIO to further explore her interests in sustainable design and construction practices.
Shwetank graduated from Birmingham School of Architecture, England. After his graduation he gained international experience, working in England, Vietnam and Japan. He has collaborated on several award winning designs during his past tenures. His personal work has been exhibited in the prestigious RIBA exhibition. His architecture projects and style focus on the individual elements rather than concentrating on the overall forms of the design. He worked for Kengo Kuma & Associates, Tokyo before joining the studio. He joined architecture BRIO to hone his knowledge of the built environment in the Indian context. He has a strong interest in art, culture, philosophy and travelling which drives his passion for architecture.
Born and brought up in Mumbai. Ninad has completed his Advanced Diploma in 3D Animation and Visual Effects (Plus) from Maya Academy of Advance Cinematic (MAAC) in collaboration with University of Cambridge. He is rigorously skilled with over 7 years of experience in Architectural field, as a 3D Interior and Exterior Visualizer. He has worked with Adid - Architect and Interior Consultant as well as with Architype3D and has also undertaken various freelance Architectural 3D visualising and rendering projects. He is specialised in Photo Real Architectural and 3D visualization for commercial, residential and landscape projects. He has joined Architecture Brio to further develop his finishing touches to 3D studio max for more realistic output, using Photoshop.
Samridhi Nalwa, a final year B.Arch Student of Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, completed her thesis titled "Urban Renewal of Rander, Surat", which dealt with the issues relating to the conservation of a historic settlement, taking in account the needs and aspiration of the inhabitants.
